Vida Abundante

We had a great conversation with Pepe and Leah tonight.  It is so amazing to keep in touch with them and hear about their adventures with God in Mexico.  I hope you will support them in pray as they reach out and impact their community.

  • Leah shared a praise report that she is feeling much better. Her respiratory issues and rash are almost fully healed. Thank you Lord !!
  • Pepe has been invited to share God's word at a local radio station on Tuesdays.  Pepe had felt God's leading to use media and this is a direct result of God's prompting.
  • On November 21st, Vida Abundante is supporting a city-wide youth outreach.  This event is done every other month.  Please pray for great success and for the youth in their church to bring many friends!
  • The children's ministry classroom project is still under way.  Pepe and Leah are working with others in the church to do the demo and removal work but will need to pay builders to rebuild the classrooms.  This is an expensive task and we need to join with Vida Abundante in praying for God's provision.
Here is the audio of our discussion.  I hope it blesses you to hear their voices!

It was great to touch bases with Pepe and Leah again Monday.  They have been busy at home working with their children and church.  Bruce and Lorraine will be visiting them soon
  • Leah has battled some respiratory issues for several months.  Also she may have some form of Dengae feaver resulting in acute head aches and a skin rash.  We need to lift her to God and ask for a complete healing.
  • Please continue to pay for grace, favour and provision for Pepe, Leah and their children (part of our LOJ family).  They are a long way from their home here in Canada.  Please pray for God's amazing peace to be with them as they labour for His kingdom.
  • God is alive and at work in Vida Abundante (their church) and we can support His work by praying for God to raise up leaders, appoint workers and develop a strong church community.  As with any community growth can be complicated.   Let's pray that His will will be found in each situation and that the community will grow quickly in faith and in numbers.
While there was audio recorded, there is no audio being posted to the site today.  The conversation ranged wildly and the edits would have been violent.  Stay tuned for more audio after next weeks call.

We had a long chat with Pepe and Leah tonight.  It was great to talk with them!  The got home safe but are right back in the thick of life in Mexico with lots to keep them busy at home and at church.  The discussion was wide ranging and the audio has been wildly edited to keep it short.

Please forgive the choppy editing, I had to put a fast-forward sound effect in to bridge one topic to the next.  I'll try to make it smoother next time.

Pepe and Leah had several prayer requests:

  • They have a "Festival de Vida" or Festival of Life scheduled for October 30th.  Please pray that this will shine God's glory on Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas during Halloween and the week long celebration of the dead !!
  • They are working with children at home now.  Primarily this is to have more significant one-on-one time with each child but also because school is very expensive.  We should pray for wisdom and patience for both Pepe and Leah as well as focus for the children.
  • The husband and brother of a member of the Vida Abundante church have gone missing.  This is likely due to their government jobs. Please pray for these men and others in the same situation.  Pray they will return home safely and soon!  The husbands name is Alejandro De La Cruz.

It was such a blessing to reconnect with Pepe and Leah again during their recent trip to Victoria.  Their kingdom work in Tuxtla Mexico has been blessed and the Vida Abundante church they founded has grown and matured under thier leadership.  Clearly this church planting was God's agenda and Lion of Judah is privileged to partner with Pepe and Leah in His work.

We were also treated to some awesome preaching while they were home.  Pepe has gained confidence and skill as a preacher and offered some neck-snapping, attitude-adjusting sermons that had even our subdued Victorian community shouting "Amen Brother!".  Thanks Pepe for speaking to us from the Lord.

Keeping in touch with Pepe and Leah is important.  While they have their own church down south today, they are also part of our family here and we need to support them by staying in touch.  It is my hope to speak with them regularly and be able to share updates with the entire LOJ community.  As with other important LOJ missions, these posts will highlight news and even include audio from our discussions so we can all stay connected.  Here in Canada, the LOJ community can celebrate their successes and lift needs to the Lord.

I look forward to chatting with Pepe and Leah every other Monday starting next week.  I hope you will look forward to bi-weekly posts here on the Community site.
