Well, the church of Uganda takes it's celebrations seriously.  Last night was New Years Eve and the church at King's Kid home was stuffed with people.  We had a debate about how many were there and estimates ranged from 250 to 400+.  Regardless, it was busy and the locals were stoked about the New Year!

Things began about 6:PM but most people showed up about 8:PM.  We worshipped and danced and heard from several local pastors.  Then we were blessed by several local officials who are Christians and took time to address us.  We heard from the Town Clark, the Police Chief and the District Chairman.  I was blown away as the District Chairman exhorted sival servants to pray and influence thier workplaces with Christian values (how cool is that!).

At midnight, the room exploded with excitement and praise!!  People shouted and raised their hands as well as their chairs!  The choir burst into song and dance and the pastors began prophesying over 2010.  I wish I could have captured the moment for you all to be part of!

Singing and dancing and messages from many of the 15 pastors present lasted on into the night.  The LOJ team decided we couldn't last any longer at 2:AM and left for our beds while the locals continued on until about 6:AM.  I hope you enjoy the images we captured, it will give you some idea of how Ugandans party and praise the Lord.

On a side note, Pastor Robert is 42 years old today.  He invited us all to have lunch with him and his family and we were treated to an amazing meal.  What a blessing it is to start 2010 with good friends.  It is a great start to an exciting year of adventure with the Lord :)
